So, what would you like to see if we were to have another contest? Please leave suggestions, feedback and general ideas in the comments section below.
LOOKING FOR A NEW FOUNDER!I’m sorry I’ve been such a bad founder and neglecting our group I’ve decided to hand over the reins, if anyone is interested in running this group themselves, give a reason why you want to be founder, I won’t play favorites, but whoever I think can improve the group the most, gets the job, so don't hate me for my choice.
Is anyone interested in becoming a contributor?Well out group hasn’t been very lively but if anyone is interested in becoming a contributor and helping me make our group better. Anyone is welcome, just message here and I shall promote you immediately
So we are having a contest! This is the group’s first contest; I hope we get plenty of submissions. I’ve had many ideas and given some suggestions on rules for this contest, like word play, a theme, and a word limit. Those all sound like good ideas and I will keep those in mind for later contest, for the first one I will just say: go nuts. Make what you want to make for this first contest; the theme can be anything you want, have as many words in it as you want, there are only a few rules.
It must be a short story
It must be in a text format
It can have mature content but nothing over 18
The contest will close one mouth from now on June 8th, if anyone feels they need more time it can and will be extended.
I want you to be as creative as you can for this contest but if your fanfic is all about and OC character then at least one real character form the Simpson’s has to be in there for at least half of the time. (or else it’s not really a Simpson
Contest? Is it just me or is this group dying before it even gets off the ground?
I think maybe we can spark things up with a contest. I’m thinking we have a suggested theme and the winner gets to have their work put in the Featured folder (there’s not much I can do in the way of prizes for now).
But before we get too excited if I hold a contest would anybody actually participate?
No point in having a contest if nobody enters.
Anyway I please give me your feedback on what you guys think.
I'm still trying to work everything outI’m still working a few bugs in running a group if anybody who is used to running a group can offer me any advice about anything it would be very appreciated. P.S. this is a literature group. I know I am letting in basic fan art but I don’t want that to overshadow the writing part of this group so please feel free to submit your fan art but don’t submit your whole gallery a fan art. I want to keep the main focus on writing.
Updates! Please Read!So I’ve noticed there’s been some confusion with submitting to the right so I’m going to make some updates to try and make it easier on all of you. I’ve always liked groups were deviants are immediately accepted so of course it will stay that way. But here’s some folder updates.
Note: illustrations that are not comics but have a story attached to them will still go under short stories or multi chaptered stories depending on how long the story is.
THIS FOLDER STAYS EMPTY!
I’ve made it so you can’t submit to this folder. I have my own reasons for wanting to keep this folder empty. I’ve never run a Group before but in other groups that I’m a part of everyone submits to the featured folder, and all folders go unused, accepted for contributed. There are a few things I’m pretty much obsessive compulsive about, and this is one of them. So this stays empty and anything suggested to featured will be rejected, I
Using HTML on deviantART
Hello and welcome to my little html tutorial. I've been working with html codes for a couple of years and I'm going to teach you what I know about using some basic html on deviantART. This won't make you a html expert or something and I'm not an expert myself but it will give just enough knowledge to make your journals, comments, news articles and other neat and lovely looking.
deviantART actually has FAQs about html but I still wanted to do this because they look a bit unorganized, in my opinion. Also, why would you want to look for those FAQs when you can just open this news article where you have everything in one place?
You may already know some of these, but I hope you'll find at least something helpful in this news article.
Some basic html

Label Me Lesbian: A Guide to Types of Lesbians [Bullet; Yellow] [Bullet; Orange] [Bullet; Pink]
The following is an extensive guide to the different Labels a Lesbian may have. In my experience I have come across many Lesbians who just thought they were a Lesbian. This guide was at first for TheLesbianClub's Chatroom Classes, but I have decided that this could benefit not only the club but many people out there. If you are a Lesbian and questioning what type of Lesbian you are, then this guide is for you!

Lesbian is a term most widely used in the English language to describe sexual and romantic desire between females. The word may be used as a noun, to refer to women who identify th

You remember what it was like. Opening a dusty cardboard box,
yellowed with age, found in Grandma's attic. Dumping the 500

Well, this puzzle is nothing like that! We're taking a fun and

7 Tips To Instantly Become A Better ArtistPractice, practice, practice. Gah.
Attend life drawing classes over the summer. Blegh.
Take a sketchbook with you everywhere you go, and fill up ten of those bad boys at the coffee shop. Pfft.
Let's be honest here. We all want to become better artists, like, right frickin' now. We don't even want to have to suffer through hour-long tutorials of some pompous snooty hack bloviating over the intricate methods of drawing eyes on YouTube. We want progress, we want improvement, and we want it on our desk in ten minutes ago!
Fine, fine, I hear ya'. While these aren't going to make an instant Leonardo da Vinci out of you, these might get you up to...ehh...Basquiat caliber. Sure, I've made tutorials, but those are more about setting up Photoshop for the sake of coloring an image, and not so much building yourself artistically. Those are more technical lessons. Artistically
How to get noticed on deviantART!:faq56:
I've had many people ask me this question so I'm going to elaborate the best I can.
As the FAQ above states, to get far on deviantART you HAVE to give feedback to get it. It's almost virtually impossible for you to get noticed without doing any of that. I learned that after a year of being here.
This is something that you will have to do in your dA lifetime in order to find your inspirations and be able to learn new techniques. When on the front page of deviantART it's probably the most diverse amount of artwork you'll see! Ranging from pixels to sculptures, tattoos to anime to poems, there has to be at least one that can catch your eye! There are millions of deviants here and even more submissions! Try searching for artworks that please you. You can even have a randomized search by using stuff like the random d
How to draw during 365 days
By the beginning of 2014 I started this account and uploaded a doodle a day during a year. It was the most challenging thing I ever did and it helped me loads on improving my art.
I've seen a lot of mentions on my inbox about artists that are starting their own 365 Days challenge and I want to write this journal to share what I've learned through my experience and maybe encourage some of you to join this long term journey.
It's okay to start simple!
My first doodles were waaay more simple than the other ones. If I had to start the project again I would still do them simple. Of course, starting this challenge is very exciting but it's a dead end if you put a heavy load on yourself at the beginning!
Focus on knowing your pace first. How much time does it take you to finish your drawings?
Writing Effective DialogueWe've all struggled through figuring out how to write dialogue that not only gets the information out there, but also helps build characters or advance the plot. There are tons of books and blogs out there on the topic, too. But just reading about it doesn't do much good if we're not ready to try it out. Give it a go and see what other people think. But let's start with the basics.
What is Effective Dialogue?
Dialogue that's written well will reveal character traits, add to the tension and suspense, helps cut down on text walls of description and of course, advances your plot. One of the most important things to keep in mind when you're writing dialogue is that in fiction, your reader doesn't want to read all the mundane things we say on a regular basis. So if it's not moving the plot or adding to your character's personality, you should think about cutting it completely.
What do I mean by reveals character traits?
Will you be my friend? The funny thing about people knowing you, is that many people want to be your friend.
"Will you be my friend?" is one those questions I get the most.
It's also one the questions I have to answer with a negative answer the most, because I don't like lying to people.
Like I've told in some of my earlier journals, my life didn't overflow with friendship nor popularity when I was younger. It was quite the contrary. I wasn't anything near popular, to the point that most people didn't even want to have anything to do with me. As the kid that got bullied, the few that dared to get close to me, more or less put their social status in the group at stake by even talking to me. And as a result, I guess I valued their friendship a lot. After all; I knew what they risked.
Coming from that sort of situation, friendship has always been a very important but at the same time mysterious matter to me. Something not be
